　今回は、ミンダナオ島北東部地域ブトゥアン市バランガイ・アンバゴのオーブレイ・マイルズ・ブクエ（18歳、グレード12）さんのエッセーです。

　エッセーのテーマは「ファッション」について。オーブレイさんのファッション論、ぜひ読んでみてください。なかなか奥の深い内容ですよ。

ファッション

　ファッションは人の人生に常に存在するものだといわれています。男子にとっても女子にとっても生活の一部なのです。

　ファッションが重要なのは、世界のあらゆる文化を反映しているからだともいわれいます。
　ファッションはさまざまな社会的グループをつくり、自分のステータスに応じて差別化するための手段となっています。
　
　ファッションは自己啓発と自信を意味します。着心地の良いものを身に着けると、必ず自信がつきます。自分の好きなものを身に着けると幸せを感じ、気分が良くなり、それが自信となって自尊心を高めるのです。

　『The Journal of Dress, Body & Culture』の編集方針によると、ファッションとは "体現されたアイデンティティーの文化的構築 "と定義されています。
　そのため、デザイナーや洋裁師が作る、いわゆるハイファッションだけでなく、ストリートスタイルを含むあらゆる形態のセルフファッションが含まれます。

　ファッションとはモノがつくられる方法を意味しており、何かをファッション化するとは、特定の形にすることでもあります。
　最も一般的なファッションの定義は、その時々に流行している服装や行動のスタイルであり、強い意味合いを持っています。

　残念ながら、ファッションの問題で苦しむのは女子たちです。なぜなら、ファッションは自分自身、自分の考え、自分の感情を表現する方法のようなものだからです。

　女子たちは、自分のファッションを表現することを社会が受け入れるのはとても難しいことだと感じています。大部分の人は、女子のユニークなファッションのテイストを理解しません。そのことは、女子にとってとても難しく、不公平なことなのです。

　ファッションは私たちの生活の一部です。女子も男子も、大人の男性も女性も、ファッションの好みやその表現方法は異なります。

　私たちは常に人のファッションを尊重すべきであり、特に女子に対しては、何を着ているかということのみで判断することは避けなければなりません。
　なぜなら、ファッションとは創造性のことであり、私たちは皆、創造的な心を持っており、それぞれの方法で創造性を発揮しているからです。

Fashion

　They say that fashion is a constant presence in a person's life. It is a part of our lives, to both boys and girls. They also say that, fashion is important because it reflects every culture in the world. It is a way to create different social groups and be differentiated according to your status. And as what I've said in my answer, fashion also means self-empowerment and confidence. Whenever we wear something, we are comfortable of, we gain confidence. You feel happiness, you feel good when you wear something you like, and it gives you more confidence and boosts your self-esteem. 

　On an article it says, according to the editorial policy of Fashion Theory: The Journal of Dress, Body & Culture, fashion is defined as "the cultural construction of the embodied identity." As such, it encompasses all forms of self-fashioning, including street styles, as well as so-called high fashion created by designers and couturiers. Fashion also alludes to the way in which things are made; to fashion something is to make it in a particular form. Most commonly, fashion is defined as the prevailing style of dress or behavior at any given time, with the strong implications.

　Unfortunately, girls are the ones who suffers more when it the issue of fashion is at stake because just what I've said, fashion is like a way of expressing yourself. Your thoughts and your emotions. And when it comes to girls, it was like it is very hard for the society to accept how a girl express their fashion. Most of the people doesn't understand and judge a girl just because of her unique and unpopular taste of fashion. And that makes it very hard and unfair to girls. 

　Fashion is a part of our lives. Both girls and boys, men and women, have different tastes of fashion and how they express it. We should always respect one's fashion and avoid to judge them just by what they wear, especially to the girls. Let each and one of us express our own uniqueness because fashion is about creativity and we are all have a creative mind and we are all creative in our own ways.
