　今回は、マニラ首都圏カロオカン市マルセロ・H・デル・ピラー小学校出身のエンチャイルド奨学生、ロドニー・ビアネス君（19歳、グレード11）の寄稿（山歩の意訳）を紹介します。

コロナ禍をどう生きるか？

　今、世界で何が起こっているのか全く想像もつきません。

　かつては人々が人生を楽しく過ごしていました。学校に行けば、クラスメートや先生と直接会うことができました。

　しかしCovid-19と呼ばれるウイルスによるパンデミックが発生し、その影響を受けた地域ではロックダウンがなされ、全てが変化しました。

　パンデミックに直面している今、家族と私は他の人々の助けを借りて生きています。特に、エンチャイルド・フィリピンのような人々は、困難故に人生を諦めないようにと、私たちに生きる動機を与えてくれています。

　コロナ禍に対処するために政府が決定した方針によって、私の家族は必要がなければ家を出ることができません。
　ですから、私の家族はテレビを見たり、聖書を読んだりして楽しんでいます。

　私の父は家族の生計を支えるために運転手をしていましたが、医師と看護師だけが外出を許可されるという状況になり、父が運転手としての仕事をすることができなくなってしまいました。

　しかし父と家族全員が父の上司に非常に感謝しています。なぜなら、仕事がなくても給料を出してくれているからです。政府の十分な支援を受けられなかった私たちの家族ですが、パンデミックに直面しているこのような時期でも、父の上司のおかげで、私たちは助けられています。
　母はパンデミックで失業したため家にいます。諦めずに一時はネット販売を始めましたが、事業への投資が足りなかったため今はそれができていません。

　パンデミックの間、私はギターを弾いたり、家を出ないようにTIKTOKでダンスのビデオを作ったりするなど、自分にできることを身に付けています。また、自分の服を洗ったり、家事も手伝いました。お皿を洗ったり、何もしていない時は「ワンピース」などのアニメを見ることもあります。

　私たちは今、このコロナ禍といかに戦うか、どう生きるのかテストされていますが、どんな問題が起こっても、その試練に対処し、助け合い、克服することができるのがフィリピン人なのです。

How you cope up during this pandemic?

　I can't fully imagine what's happening in the world today, it's like people used to have fun, we can still do everything just like going to school where we can meet our classmates and teachers in person. But all this has changed because of a virus that is now spreading around the world called Covid-19 that has led to the declaration of lockdown in areas affected by the pandemic. With the help of other people my family and I have made it easy to face the pandemic like Enchild Phillipines who gives us motivation not to give up on the hardships of life especially now that we are facing a pandemic. Above all, in order to cope with this pandemic, my family needs to follow the protocols laid down by the government and not go out of the house when if it is not necessary. So my family just entertained themselves by watching tv and reading the bible. My father is a family driver he was the reason why we have food to eat every day, but when the lockdown came where only nurses and doctors were allowed to go out it could not drive again. My dad and the whole family are very grateful to my father's boss because even if he doesn't come in or they don't drive anymore, he still gives my father a salary which is the reason why we have food during the pandemic. Our family who did not receive enough government assistance, but  thanks to my father's boss she is very kind to help our family especially in this time that all of us are facing the pandemic. While my mother was just at home because she lost her job due to the pandemic but she did not give up it made way, she became an online seller temporarily but neither it took a while because she did not have enough investment in her business. While I was in the pandemic, I was cultivating myself in what I was good at, such as playing the guitar and making a video of a dance on tiktok to avoid leaving the house, I also helped with chores such as washing my own clothes and also washing the dishes, when I'm not doing anything sometimes I watch anime just like One piece. We have all been tested by this pandemic on how resilient we are in life, how we can fight such things but we are Filipinos that whatever problems come we will be able to cope, help and overcome these trials.
