今日は家族で過ごしていらっしゃるかたが多いのではないでしょうか。
イエス・キリストとともに、愛する人々とともに、素晴らしい時間をお過ごしください。
今日は、ミンダナオ島ブトゥアン市バランガイ・マサオの奨学生、フレッシュニー・タンデュヤンさん（19歳、ブトゥアン・ドクターズ・カレッジ1年）のエッセーをお届けします。
このエッセーは11月14日に書かれたものですが、クリスマス、イエス・キリストの聖誕を祝うこの日に、ろうそくの火について考えてみることはとても意味のあることだと思います。

ろうそくはいつまで私たちを照らしてくれるのでしょうか。
炎は暗い部屋に光をもたらしてくれますが、ろうそくと違って、私たちの希望はそう簡単に溶けないことを願います。
これまでの暗闇の中にあっても、そしてこれからも、希望や夢、愛、生きようとする熱意が私たちに燃え上がることを願っています。
この光の輝きが、私たちの心の輝きと同じように、未来の世代のために、この美しい自然を破壊することなく、世界を発展させる方法を考えるためのものでありますように。
ろうが溶ける時、ろうそくが泣いているように見えるのですが、なぜ泣いているのでしょうか？ 熱のせいでしょうか？
溶けたろうが流れ落ちるように、私たちが流す涙にも価値があることを願います。

FROM THIS CANDLE
ろうそくが燃え尽きると、光は消え、闇が支配してしまうと、私は皆さんには考えてほしくありませんし、そのように祈ります。死は恐いものだと思わないでください。
私たちが暗闇の中にいる人々の光となったことを後悔せず、そのことを決して忘れないでください。

FROM THIS CANDLE
Until when can a candle sustain us light?
I hope unlike the candle our hope will not melt that easily when it is lightened up by fire, for the fire brings the light in the dark room. I hope just like the fire our heart will burn for the eagerness to hope, dream, love and live, despite of the darkness we experienced in the past days and for the upcoming.
May the brightness of the light might as well be as bright as our mind to think of ways, to develop the world without destroying it's beauty and preserving it's nature, for the future generations to come.
When the wax meltex, it looks like the candle is crying, why does it cry? Because of the heat?
Well I hope that our tears are worth crying for, just like how the melted wax flows down the surface.
I hope that people will not see death as scary part of life, for just like the candle, when all of its wax are melted the light disappears and darkness will conquer, I hope that people will not see it in that way, for I hope and pray, that we will. Never forget not to regret, that once in our lives we became the light for others in darkness.
