7月2日に開催された日比オンライン交流会は、「エンチャイルドの教育支援は他の教育支援と何が違うのか？～エンチャイルド奨学生が語る、エンチャイルドの教育支援」というテーマで8人の奨学生にスピーチしてもらいました。
今回は、トップバッターで発表してくれたミンダナオ島ブトゥアン市バランガイ・アンバゴのオーブレイ・マイルズ・ブクエさん（19歳、カラガ・ステート大学1年）のスピーチをご紹介します。
オーブレイさんはコロナ禍の中、自宅が全焼するなど、さまざまな試練を通過してきました。
エンチャイルドの教育支援は他の教育支援と何が違うのか？
～エンチャイルド奨学生が語る、エンチャイルドの教育支援
受益者になるチャンスを頂いた時、私は「奨学金を援助してくれる団体がやっとできた」という安堵感しかありませんでした。それ以上のことは考えもしませんでした。
私はエンチャイルドのことを、よくある奨学金制度だと思っていました。しかし、このグループを支えている人たちや、私と同じようにこの機会を与えられている他の奨学生に会ってみると、これは他の奨学金制度とは違うのだということを悟ったのです。

私たちは支援者の皆さんと毎年直接会う機会が与えられました。日本の皆さんは、私たちに会うたびに喜びました。興奮している様子を実際に見て感じることができました。それは私たちが感じることのできる最も素晴らしい思い出の一つです。
エンチャイルドは単なる教育支援団体ではなく、ファミリーという存在なのだと実感ました。愛と調和の縮図なのです。国籍の違いは、私たちに対する愛情、ケア、サポートの障害にはなりませんでした。
私たちは受益者としてではなく、家族として扱われているのです。私たちを支えてくれる人たちがいて、私はとても幸運だと思います。支援者の皆さんは、私たちが夢を素晴らしい現実に変える手助けをするファミリーなのです。

エンチャイルドは、私に人生で大切な多くのことを教えてくれました。
教育がいかに大切かということ、愛には国境はないということを教えてくれました。このファミリーがいるからこそ、私は困難があっても懸命に努力することができるのです。

What makes NPO ENCHILD scholarship program different from others?
～NPO ENCHILD Scholar himself/herself will talk about the uniqueness & strong point of NPO ENCHILD education support program.
When I was given the chance to become one of the beneficiaries, the only thing that I felt was relief because finally I would be having an organization that would help me with the finances. I never thought of anything more than that. I thought that it was just the typical scholarship programs. But not until I've finally met the people behind this organization and the other students like me who had also been given this opportunity, I've said to myself that this is not just like any other scholarship programs.
Every year, we are given a chance to meet each other and we can really see and feel how happy and excited they are whenever they see us, and that is one of the most wonderful feelings that we could ever feel. I have realized and I saw it and felt that Enchild is not an organization, it is a family. It is an epitome of love and unity. The difference of our nationalities was not a hindrance for them to show their love, care and support towards us. We are treated not as a beneficiary, but a family. We are way luckier because we have these people that are willing to help us in any ways they can. They are a family that helps each other turn dreams into a wonderful reality.
Being a part of this family is such an honor. Enchild has taught me a lot of things in life. They taught me how important education is and how love knows no boundaries. Having this family is one of the reasons why I strive hard despite the difficulties. Enchild is different. Enchild is a family. And that is what makes it more beautiful and different from others.
